At every moment in Nexus Prime, reality is doing something invisible and essential: collapsing possibilities. Every quantum event has multiple potential outcomes. The collapse mechanism selects one, renders it physically real, and discards the rest. You turned left. That's the outcome that happened. The version of you that turned right was a possibility that got collapsed away — it never manifested, never became physical, never became real.
A Probability Cascade Event occurs when this mechanism fails. When the quantum collapse process stops selecting one outcome and starts rendering several simultaneously. You turn left AND right. The building exists AND doesn't exist. The weapon fired AND didn't fire. Every affected observer experiences a different version of reality as fully, physically solid — and each of them is correct.
During the Probability Wars, this was weaponized. Cascade generators were deployed against enemy positions to shatter their operational reality into contradictory versions. The zones where cascades were most heavily deployed — Probability Shatter Zones — still experience temporal instabilities, causal loops, and minor cascade events to this day. The weaponization was so thorough that the damage to local quantum substrate became permanent. The Wars ended. The Shatter Zones did not.
