PHENOMENON DESCRIPTION
Null-Void Territories are regions where null-fractures were imperfectly contained following the Omnisynthetic Wars, leaving areas that exist in states of semi-reality — physical and metaphysical laws in constant fluctuation. They are neither fully real nor fully void, occupying an intermediate ontological state that defies conventional classification. In a Null-Void Territory, the laws of physics apply inconsistently: gravity may function normally in some sub-zones and fail entirely in others. Causality is unreliable. Matter exists in probabilistic states that shift without external trigger.
Entities native to these zones have adapted to function within the fluctuation — some have developed entirely novel forms of cognition premised on ontological instability as a baseline. Their perception of reality operates from the assumption that physics will change. Standard-reality consciousness entering these zones is poorly equipped for this; the brain attempts to apply causal logic to a causal-logic-hostile environment, producing disorientation, equipment-logic failure, and in extended exposures, permanent cognitive restructuring.
